    NECA

US Capitol DuskNECA members are making a difference on Capitol Hill. Join us in Washington at the Mandarian Oriental from Tuesday, May 14 through Thursday, May 16 for NECA’s 2013 National Legislative Conference.Participants in the Conference will take part in issue briefings and engage with Members of Congress and Washington insiders while gaining a unique perspective on the legislative process. All registrants have the opportunity to meet with legislative leaders in their offices and at our Congressional Reception. Members from the Northeastern Illinois Chapter, NECA are frequent attendees. Among NECA’s legislative priorities are policies aimed at job creation, pension relief, reducing the estate tax, procurement reform, and closing a loophole that allows employers to misclassify employees as independent contractors. NECA will oppose legislation to reform our immigration system that could hold contractors liable for the hiring practices of subcontractors.

NECA’s legislative conference is about policy, not partisanship. Speakers from both sides of the political aisle allow participants to gain a greater understanding of what to expect when meeting with Members of Congress. With prepared position papers and preparatory meetings putting forth the necessary talking points, NECA staff will ensure all participants are able to communicate like a pro. Your fellow contractors will be with you while you tell our story.

By taking an active role in the policymaking process, participants are contributing to the success of the electrical contracting industry by sending Congress the message that NECA leads the industry in establishing and maintaining the highest workforce standards and performance.
In the weeks preceding the National Legislative Conference, NECA’s Government Affairs staff (301- 215-4537) will be open to discuss any issues that those interested in the Conference feel should be included. Register Now > Learn More, and View Full Agenda >>
