Kane County Electric Vehicle Ordinance
March 18, 2018
It might be the first county in
Illinois to take the initiative to pass an ordinance for Electric Vehicles.
The Northeastern Illinois Chapter was happy to volunteer to
assist in the effort. With four Kane County Board members and a subcommittee
of industry stakeholders, a subcommittee of the Transportation Committee has
drafted an ordinance that it hopes will facilitate the adoption of Electric
Vehicle usage throughout the County and perhaps serve as a template for
other counties to use. In April, Kane County announced the installation of the
first EV Charging station for the County itself at the Courthouse in Geneva.
The Ordinance was passed by the Kane County Board in February 2012.
